The Korean War

The Korean War was more or less the start of the Cold War Era, it started when North Korean communists lead by Soviet backed Kim Il Sung invaded South Korea to try to unify the Korean peninsula under communist rule. The war was almost over when the U.S. forces pushed the Koreans back to the Chinese border when the Chinese government donated thousands of troops to North Korea pushing U.S. forces back to the 38th parallel where North Korea and Allied forces agreed to a ceasefire that has lasted to this day.
